Geo: Feeding Cultural Integration

BA (Hons) Architecture| First Year | Project 4 (Individual Work)

Geo was a response to the ‘Popupology’ brief; a brief which laid out the task of designing a timber pod to participate in a festival theme of your choice, utilising otherwise forgotten spaces within the urban environment. The chosen site was under Spaghetti Junction, Birmingham and had key pedestrian links and connections with different areas of the city. Through research it was found that despite Birmingham’s ‘culturally diverse society’ many of these ethnic groups were in fact unintentionally segrated into different areas. The ‘Geo’ pod was designed to serve cultural food as a means of reintegrating and connecting all ethnic groups.
