MArch | Fifth Year | Praxis Proposal (Group)

Located on the ‘Theatres at Risk’ register, Dudley Hippodrome faces the risk of demolition following plans for the redevelopment of the site to construct a new Dudley College campus. This project provides an alternative proposal that retains the most significant heritage and cultural assets of the Hippodrome, including its Art Deco façade. The proposal incorporates a new wrap around extension to provide additional space for commercial and educational use; intended to both support the Hippodrome financially as well as meet some of the requirements of the Dudley College expansion. Situated within a tourist triangle, the Dudley Hippodrome provides the opportunity to compliment existing tourist attractions nearby; notably the Black Country Living Museum + Dudley Zoo.
